About me

My name is Jill and I’m the blogger behind i run i eat. I am 26 and live in Utah.  I was born & raised (for 15 years) in Kansas.  I’m a huge KU Jayhawks fan.

I’ve been married for 3 1/2 years – although we’ve been together for 9.  Geoff & I met in high school where we both played basketball. We dated for 5 1/2 years before we got married.

We have a labby named Lynn who is the BEST dog in the world – except for when she gets into a 5 lb bag of flour and eats 3/4 of it.

I’m a student majoring in exercise physiology and minoring in nutrition. I am also working on a nursing degree on top of that. When that is all done (I can’t wait for that day!!) I would like to get my masters in nutrition and be an RD.

I have always been active, but not always concerned about nutrition. While I was playing basketball in college I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia. I am pretty sensitive to what foods I eat and this can sometimes make it hard to stay active. This is what started my interest in nutrition. I eventually found out how much food can impact our lives and health which was so fascinating to me.

It wasn’t until I was done playing basketball that I gained weight and just didn’t feel good. I needed something to help me get back in shape and keep me competitive – I missed competing. Thats when I turned to running. I immediately fell in love with running because it’s something that I can always be better at and there are always people who are faster than me (Like Geoff).

I’m wouldn’t say I’m super strict with what I eat.  I try to eat by a 90/10 rule – 90% of the time, it’s healthy.  The other 10% is whatever I want.

This blog isn’t to track every piece of food that I eat.  Or every exercise I perform.  My goal is to teach people about running, exercise, nutrition & overall healthy habits (with a little bit of random thrown in).  Living a healthy lifestyle is completely do-able & I want to show people that.

If you have any tips or suggestions for me, please, let me know.  I am always open to new ideas and opinions.

I didn’t know you were a KU fan too! Where in Kansas did you grow up? I lived in Wichita for a couple of years!

Yeah, I’m a huge Jayhawk fan! I grew up in Lenexa (or Shawnee Mission). It’s on the Kansas side of Kansas City. I used to go to Witchita all the time for basketball tournaments when I was little. I loved it there! If we had a chance I would move back there in a heartbeat.

    Hi Jill!

I came across your blog while looking for ragnar race reports, but I couldn’t find one from you (although I’m sure you did amazing!!)

I read a few things here and there and I LOVE YOU! lol, okay – too soon…but we have a lot in common. I live in Sandy, UT – I’m 26 and I’ve been married 3 years. I am originally from California……and I have no ties to KU, really. BUT I just wanted to say hi!

I didn’t know a dog could get such a kick out of a bag of flour! There was one time when I was barbecuing and there were these towels that were soaked in blood from the meat…it was lying around on the floor and my dog just decided to eat it! Love your recipes by the way!
